Its development leads to leaf necrosis, <strong>a reduction in photosynthetic area, and consequently, direct losses in yield and commercial quality.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In intensive production systems, disease pressure can increase rapidly, forcing technicians to seek effective <strong>strategies that combine phytosanitary control and sustainability.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this objective, a trial was carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of <strong>biological control with BOTRYBEL,<\/strong> based on <em>Bacillus amyloliquefaciens<\/em>, under real onion cultivation conditions. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study was carried out in <strong>Llano de Brujas (Murcia) <\/strong>in the cultivation of the <strong>Spinning Star <\/strong>variety onion, under open field conditions and clay loam soil. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the trial period, conditions favorable for the development of the disease were recorded: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Average temperature: <strong>10 \u00b0C<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Average relative humidity: <strong>66%<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accumulated rainfall: <strong>24 mm<\/strong>  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A realistic disease pressure scenario where <strong>foliar protection is critical.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Trial design and data<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trial evaluated the incidence of <em>Stemphylium sp.<\/em> on leaves by comparing: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Treatment with BOTRYBEL<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Untreated control<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Main protocol parameters: <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Application<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Method: <strong>foliar spraying<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Broth: <strong>500 L\/ha<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Treatment program<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>3 applications<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>14-day interval<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dosage: <strong>12 ml\/L per application<\/strong>  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Phenological stage<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applications from <strong>BBCH 41 to BBCH 45<\/strong>, during the vegetative development of the crop. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Evaluation criteria<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Parameter:<strong> Incidence<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unit: <strong>Number of affected leaves<\/strong>  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This approach allows for accurate measurement of <strong>the real impact of the treatment on disease progression in the field.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The solution: BOTRYBEL<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BOTRYBEL is a biofungicide formulated with <strong>Bacillus amyloliquefaciens<\/strong>, a microorganism with a recognized ability to <strong>inhibit the development of foliar pathogens through multiple biological mechanisms.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among them are: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Production of antifungal metabolites<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Competition for space and nutrients<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protective effect on plant tissue<\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This biological approach allows for <strong>reducing pathogen pressure while maintaining crop functionality<\/strong>, easily integrating into sustainable management programs. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Trial results<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results showed a significant <strong>control of <em>Stemphylium<\/em><\/strong><strong> incidence <\/strong>compared to the untreated control. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Efficacy of biological control:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>75.29% reduction in incidence<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This level of effectiveness confirms BOTRYBEL SC&#8217;s ability to <strong>limit disease development and protect the active leaf area<\/strong>, a key factor in crops such as onions where photosynthesis determines bulb filling. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under real field conditions, the three-application program achieved: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Significantly reduce the presence of affected leaves<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maintain a larger functional leaf area<\/strong>
